too busy for braces

Orange City and Deltona, FL

Maybe your family could not afford braces when you were growing up, or you were self-conscious about having a mouth full of metal brackets and wires during what usually already is an awkward stage of life. Whatever the reason, orthodontics may not have been a viable option for you during your adolescence. If you are considering orthodontic treatment as an adult, you are not alone. According to the American Association of Orthodontists, one in four current orthodontic patients is an adult. You still may have hesitation about receiving braces, but there are other options. Terry Soule, DDS, is here to explain the advantages of instant orthodontics in DeBary.

What is instant orthodontics?

Think of instant orthodontics as a cosmetic approach that focuses on creating an illusion that your teeth are perfectly straight. Using high-quality materials like dental porcelain, Dr. Soule can install veneers, ultra thin layers of porcelain, to change the visible shape of your teeth, giving you the appearance of a perfectly-aligned and great-looking smile.

Instant orthodontics can be installed in just two visits to our Orange City office. At the initial visit, your teeth will be prepared for the restorations. Impressions will be taken of your teeth and used as a guide during the fabrication of your permanent restorations. For veneers, a small area of your existing tooth structure will be removed so that the veneer makes a smooth, flush bond against the surface of your teeth. Then a temporary restoration is applied. At your subsequent appointment, usually about two weeks later, your completed veneers will be fitted to your teeth. Although this does require making two separate appointments at our office, you can achieve results in this short time, compared to spending months or years in braces!

The advantages of instant orthodontics

Because they focus on straightening the entire tooth structure including the root, traditional methods of orthodontic treatment like braces or ClearCorrect plastic aligners take a year or more to complete the process. Instant orthodontics, however, provide the appearance of straighter teeth in a span of two dental appointments usually scheduled within a couple of weeks apart.

This convenience is one of the greatest advantages of instant orthodontics. Thanks to the other cosmetic benefits of veneers, instant orthodontics also can reshape and brighten your teeth while also making them appear straighter. Your teeth are transformed to give you the dazzling, brighter smile you may have wanted for your entire life, and can be ideal if you are looking to improve the appearance of your smile before a big event like a wedding or class reunion.

Instant orthodontics also do not pose any potential hazard to your oral hygiene. Cavity-causing bacteria and plaque easily can accumulate around and behind the brackets on braces. After your veneers are installed, you maintain them through normal brushing and flossing.

Find out if instant orthodontics is right for you

Veneers may not be the best fit for everyone. If you are interested in learning more about instant orthodontics and finding out if you are a candidate for this type of treatment, your next step needs to be to schedule a consultation with Dr. Soule. At this meeting, you can discuss your goals and ask any questions you may have. Your dental history also will be evaluated to determine if any other conditions may complicate treatment.
